Hole in the Sky

While celebrating the arrival of the 2014 monsoon season here in the desert Southwest I realized at some point along the way that I had become fully vulnerable to the power of the storm. It was while dodging the ever-increasing drops of rain, trying to keep my lens free of moisture, that I suddenly found myself engulfed in a spectrum of color. Then something unexpected happened … for just a moment a tiny hole opened up in the clouds, revealing the half-moon. It was indeed a miracle of timing … a gift from God. For me, it was a vivid reminder that there is an eternity awaiting me … and that my current turmoil is not a part of that eternity. No matter how intense my storms may seem at the present, they remain forever temporary and will surely pass … eventually. Knowing this gives me cause to hope.
